On December 27th, at five degrees below zero in Chihuahua, I was driving to the private hospital where they were going to deliver my great-nephew to me with flowers, gifts, and an incredibly expensive baby carrier I’d bought because I swore that this child wasn’t going to start his life with anything cheap.
