1. Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spoon. Drain excess grease if needed.
2. Add chopped onion, bell pepper, and garlic. Sauté for 2–3 minutes until softened.
3. Stir in tomato sauce, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, mustard, smoked paprika, salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes.
4. Let it simmer for about 10 minutes until the sauce thickens.
2. Prepare the Texas Toast
1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
2. Mix softened butter with garlic powder and spread evenly over each slice of Texas toast.
3. Place the bread on a baking sheet and bake for 4–5 minutes until slightly toasted.
3. Assemble & Bake
1. Spoon the sloppy joe mixture onto each slice of toasted bread.
2. Sprinkle shredded cheese generously over the top.
