I found this in my girlfriend’s bathroom. We’ve been looking at it for an hour and still can’t figure out what it is.

We kept circling it, unsure whether it was harmless or something to worry about. My girlfriend expressed concerns about possible toxins or hidden dangers. I tried to reassure her, even though I felt equally uneasy. The real problem was the uncertainty: our imaginations filled every blank with something worse.

When we finally discovered what it was—a harmless but bizarre-looking slime mold that often appears in humid environments—relief didn’t come immediately.
There was no danger, nothing serious. Yet, the experience stayed with me.

We thoroughly cleaned the tiles, opened the windows, and laughed at how nervous we’d become. But something about that moment stayed with us. It was a reminder of how easily the unknown can undermine our confidence.

Now, every time I walk into that bathroom, I find myself staring at the floor without thinking. Not because I expect to see something strange, but because once something ordinary surprises you, it never seems the same again.
